Manish Khanal is a Nepali-American filmmaker, producer and storyteller born in South Florida and currently based in Oakland, California. His work spans journalism, non-fiction and documentary, is deeply place-based, and explores themes of resilience, personal histories and cultural identity.

He co-directed and produced Carl Runs the Paper (2022), which received a 2023 Mountainfilm Commitment Award. His forthcoming project, Sukha, won the Ready Set Pitch competition at CAAMfest 2025.

In 2023, Manish was named a Knight Hero by IF/THEN Shorts, the Miami Film Festival, and The Knight Foundation. He is a 2025 Center for Asian American Media Fellow and holds a Master of Journalism from UC Berkeley. Since 2022, Manish has worked as an Associate Producer at Citizen Film.
